Girl's Colosseum is a new installment of BATTLE films featured by the production company Fighting Impact. The company mission statement is about "delivering and manufacturing serious fighting" with tough-looking competitors, providing fans with pro-style action. The question is, how successful can the company be in its debut? Well, let's find out, shall we?
The movie opens with Saki Naruse, a new fighter in the BATTLE-sphere. She keeps it simple for today's match, wearing a solid white Speedo with matching colored boots and Mizuno kneepads. After showcasing her measurements, she has a short interview about her favorite technique, a single-leg crab technique.
Next is Ryo Satonaka, entering the ring in a black Speedo suit with dark Mizuno kneepads and boots. A single elbow pad (also black) protects the right arm from taking too much damage. Her interview consists of discussing her 得意技 (special move) as to how she is going to defeat her opponent. She is not looking to end this match by pin-fall but by sheer domination of the competition. Can she live up to all the smack talk?
This match is a battle of opposites - Black vs. white. Light vs. dark. Who will be victorious?
The bell rings, and the match begins with both girls circling each other, looking for a weakness to exploit.
Ryo attacks first, but her kick misses. Saki counters, taking Ryo to the mat. A forearm choke opens the match. Saki puts on the pressure, but Ryo counters, flipping her over.
The initial exchanges look more like a catfight than a wrestling match.
The brawl ends with Saki gaining the upper hand, locking Ryo in an armbar.
"Mou, give up? - Give up already?" Saki demands, to which Ryo stomps the mat in defiance.
Ryo breaks free.
After lifting Saki to her feet, Ryo connects with a roundhouse kick.
Saki crashes to the mat as Ryo jumps on top of her.
Camel clutch is dialed in. Saki squirms and pants in exasperation.
Ryo lifts Saki up again and executes another roundhouse kick.
Saki is down again, taking another camel clutch. Ryo is building quite a combo. The match has both competitors panting from exhaustion already, as both are evenly matched. Ryo manages to keep the submission until...
Saki grabs the rope.
The referee signals the break, which has Ryo letting go of the technique. However, she isn't finished, dragging Saki back to the middle of the ring.
A third camel clutch! She seems to really favor this move.
Different camera shots show the struggle between both fighters doing their best to secure a victory. So far, Ryo has stolen the show. Is her offensive gameplay enough?
Ryo tucks the arms of Saki behind her back to lock in a deeper clutch. Saki is in trouble, showing no fight of her own. Is this the beginning of the end?
Ryo releases the hold briefly to taunt her opponent.
"Give up, shiyo? Zubutoi ne - Let's give up, shall we? How insolent!"
Ryo picks up the groggy Saki and flings her to the ropes.
Several knee strikes has Saki losing stamina quickly.
Ryo has total control.
The force of the blows has Saki drop to the mat all by herself.
Ryo continues the offensive with a single-leg crab! Saki's technique is being used against her. Is this all she wrote?
Reversal! Saki tosses Ryo off her, sending the black suit-clad fighter to the turnbuckle.
A quick turn of events has Saki executing a reverse armlock. Ryo is really feeling the heat now!
Saki sets up another armbar. Ryo is not sure what to do. How did the momentum turn this quickly?
The cameramen zoom in on the expression of Ryo.
Saki is using full force.
Minutes pass as Saki picks up Ryo, taunting in the process.
What move is this?
As I thought, the single-leg crab! Ryo is panting in exhaustion, cursing under her breath from the agitation of the submission.
Saki has her opponent in the center of the ring. Where can Ryo go? Can she escape?
"Give up, shirou yo! - Give up now!" Saki states authoritatively, to which Ryo refuses.
Ryo tries to break free from the technique being applied, under great stress of the submission.
Yet, it is not enough, as she taps under Saki's special move. The bell rings as Saki seals a come-from-behind win in the first round.
More taunts are heard as Ryo tries catching her breath. Will Saki be able to keep up the pace to cruise to a win, or will Ryo fight back? Tune in next time for Part 2. You don't want to miss it!
