One of the more excellent features about AKIBACOM is their propensity to showcase live events at their office in downtown Tokyo. This idea is a dream come true for fans, who have the chance to see their superstar perform right before their very eyes. The masterminds behind Dangerous Curves, a fight company based out of the southern United States, saw this opportunity to bring over some of their talents to take on the "ace" competitors at BWP. One such match took place (date and year) when Saya matched up against Ko Asumi, a rising talent in her own right.
With the applause of fans and catchy theme music blasting in the background, Saya enters the ring first, wearing a multicolored suit with charcoal/pink boots.
With a frilly short coat slung over her shoulders, she looks poised and ready to work.
Ko Asumi follows shortly after, wearing a white Alpha Factor suit with red and blue trim. The suit looks to be fitting for a gymnast more than the rigors of pro-style wrestling.
A silky gown with an Asian motif and a championship belt is also part of her accessories, as the crowd cheers her name. White kneepads, boots, and wrist tape complete the outfit.
The referee explains the rules and asks the competitors to shake hands.
Saya looks to intimidate her opponent with a firm grip before the ref breaks up the confrontation.
This match is looking to be a good one!
In an instant, the match begins. Kou seems to want revenge early, countering Saya and executing a quick suplex. Such a clean technique! The crowd is in awe as Ko shows why she is the champion.
Saya is taken by surprise, grunting in pain. Ko takes advantage, putting Saya in an unconventional stretch.
Not sure what to call this technique, but that is the least of my problems.
I'm sure the spectators don't mind either.
After some time, Kou picks up Saya but...
Countered with a low blow.
Followed by a stunner! This match is intense from the beginning!
Now Saya is on the attack, taunting Kou in the process.
"It's just too easy!" she says, commenting on her ability to counter. Kou is thrown to the corner posts as Saya readies a technique.
Facebuster! Ouch, that one hurt me just watching.
Saya commands Kou to get up. While Kou does try some attacks of her own, she is flung into the corner post again. Both competitors are selling these moves. The voices alone are worth the price of the DVD (LOL!)
What is going on here?
A figure-four leg lock from the top rope! I haven't seen that in any of the BATTLE productions. DC trained their ladies well.
Kou is confused, disheveled, and discombobulated. How will she get out of this one? Saya continues to taunt her victim.
"This is easier than I thought!" Saya is confident in her skills. Kou looks to be in trouble.
The onslaught continues with a new stretch. What is she setting up?
Octopus hold! (BTW, the kanji for this move starts with a 卍 - Funny how that works)
Kou groans and cries out to the crowd. Can anyone help her?
"You're so helpless! You can't even fight back!" Saya utters condescendingly. Her dominance has been nonstop up to this point. Will Kou tap soon?
After some time, Saya lets go of the submission only to set up something else. Kou has not mounted any counterattack yet. How much can she take?
Bow and Arrow lock executed! The audience is completely focused on the action. Cameras snap and flicker under the ring lights, capturing every bit of the effort. Kou is in a world of hurt. If she doesn't fight back now, she could lose the momentum entirely. Her grunts of exertion can be heard all throughout the venue.
More taunting from Saya. This is too easy. Is this it for the Japanese champ?
Saya picks up her opponent and flings her back to the ropes.
Argentine backbreaker! This technique is trouble territory for anyone on the receiving end. Plenty of BATTLE contestants tap to this submission, stretching the spine to its absolute limit.
Can Kou Asumi fight back? Or is her Western opponent too much for her to handle? Tune in for Part 2 of the action! (Do you like that cliffhanger? LOL)
